Visit Lot et Garonne

Visit 'Lot et Garonne'?

The Lot-et-Garonne / southern Dordogne region covered by this is quite small  (40km by 40km or thereabouts) so that most of the places included can be visited from a carefully chosen location without the need to spend hours in the car. The Lot et Garonne and south Dordogne area has almost no public transport, so you will need a car (or a bike or walking boots) to make the most of a visit.

The 'south of the Dordogne' region I describe here is in south-west France, in the inland north-east corner of Aquitaine. The Dordogne River valley is an approximate northern boundary, between Bergerac to the west and Sarlat la Canéda to the east. Duras and Marmande define the western boundary, Domme the eastern border, and the pretty villages around Villeneuve-sur-Lot provide a natural southern limit.

These towns, and others in the region, plus the surrounding attractions are covered by this guide. Whel planning your visit you might like to start with our page of suggested itineraries, which groups places together according to their location and the time involved in visiting them.

We also have a partner site dordogne france for those who are looking to visit the north of the Dordogne. And remember to learn some french phrases before you visit!
